This is an interactive session designed to help educators challenge and support gifted students. Participants will engage in interactive activities and collaborative discussions using Kagan structures to explore effective differentiation strategies—including tiered assignments, choice boards, learning contracts, and curriculum compacting. Leave with ready-to-use tools and practical techniques to cultivate growth, engagement, and deeper learning in your most advanced students.
I have used the Critical Friends' Protocol (or Tuning Protocol) in all of my classes now with great success. I'd like to show teachers how it might look in their own classrooms by having them conduct an interactive "practice" in this session. They will receive all the tips and feedback I've learned so far.
This session will equip new school counselors and social workers with essential updates on policies, procedures, and best practices to confidently navigate their new roles at BCBE. Key topics include: Handbook & Policy Updates – Guidelines, expectations, and ethical responsibilities. Critical Protocols – Crisis intervention, student referrals, confidentiality, and mandated reporting. Curriculum & Resources – P.A.T.H. Counseling Curriculum, initiatives, and trauma-informed practices. Legal & Policy Changes – Updates on student privacy laws, anti-bullying policies, and college/career readiness mandates. By the end, participants will feel informed, confident, and prepared to apply these updates, ensuring effective student support .
